Trend of Vicenza launches VBS tile collection

Italian mosaic tile maker Trend of Vicenza has introduced the classic Vitreo, Brillante, Shining (VBS) tile collection, which blends the beauty and authenticity of vitreous glass tesserae with a unique backing membrane that makes installing mosaics easier and quicker.

The VBS collection includes three tiles: opalescent Vitreo; aventurina-accented Brillante; and iridescent Shining. All these variations are hand-cut to 2cm mosaic squares and can be used individually or combined together. Trend of Vicenza also offers the option of 24ct Aureo mosaics, hand-crafted with gold leaf and real lead crystal, for creating delicate highlights and accents.

The company has added a backing system to the VBS collection, which holds together a full sheet of mosaic tiles with a matrix of reactive polyurethane threads. Affixed to the back of the tiles and known as ‘trend+’, it offers an advantage over face-mounted film or paper and standard mesh, ensuring a better finish. The system leaves no residue and tiles do not break away from the backing, ensuring a better first-time finish. A range of grout colors, including standard white and pearl grey are available to complete the effect.

'Vitreo' is Trend’s colored, semi-transparent tile, produced using the ‘fused glass’ process and colored en masse. Each tile is tinted throughout and is thoroughly resistant to wear, sunlight and chemical agents. Offered in a choice of 80 different colors and smooth or textured surfaces, Vitreo is suitable for indoor and outdoor installations, including floors, showers and swimming pools.

'Brillante' is another colored glass mosaic with sparkling veins of enamels and aventurina stone, formed by the centuries-old process of fusing silica, copper and coloring components. This veining is achieved by manually blending secondary material with the primary color, creating dramatic metallic highlights and a unique look.

'Shining' brings the shimmer of iridescence to the 2cm collection, adding another level of creative possibilities. The iridescence is obtained by adding semi-precious metal solutions while the glass is molten, so that it becomes permanent. Both Brillante and Shining are offered in 48 colors.

Trend’s VBS collection is made from up to 59% recycled material, in line with the company’s emerging ‘trend in green’ ethos.
