Smallbone displays Alfresco Kitchen designs at Chelsea Flower Show

Smallbone of Devizes, the UK-based manufacturer of handmade kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, has displayed the Alfresco Kitchen designs at Chelsea Flower Show in London, featuring possibilities of indoor and outdoor living.

Smallbone of Devizes has won Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) ‘Gold Award for Excellence’ for the Best Trade Stand at 2010 Chelsea Flower Show. One of the highlights of Smallbone’s trade stand at the flower show was its unique Alfresco Kitchen collaboration designed to emphasize the new trend for indoor and outdoor living.

Smallbone of Devizes joined hands with the UK-based designer and manufacturer of conservatories Amdega and landscape and garden designer Stephen Woodhams for the Alfresco Kitchen project.

Smallbone has displayed Oak & Silver kitchen, which was built within a contemporary orangery made by Amdega, set in a lush, architectural garden designed by Stephen Woodhams.

The Oak & Silver kitchen features pale honey-colored Europen Oak accentuated with polished nickel handles and dark Marinus granite. The integration of glass and steel helped to offer a contemporary appearance. Highly crafted cabinetry features linear planes and flowing curves. Sub-zero Wolf appliances have been featured in the kitchen.

The orangery is a handmade structure in sustainable timber featuring an atrium glazed roof. This helps in flooding the interior of kitchen with natural light, controlled by retractable roof blinds. Glazed windows and doors of the structure open onto the garden, allowing nature into the interiors. The orangery is painted in pebble grey, a soft natural color palette that complements the garden and terrace.

The Trade Stand awards are given by the RHS in recognition of exhibits which have been designed and built to extremely high standards and which feature exceptional planting.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show, officially the Great Spring Show, is a five day garden show held each year in May by the RHS in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. It was held in London from May 25-29, 2010.
