Supported by floating foundations, the Floatyard is an 86,542 square feet multifamily housing project with public amenities. Designed with an innovative concept, the housing scheme has been cited on a waterfront parcel in Charlestown, Massachusetts, at the edge of the Boston Harbor.
Offering a solution to the growing problem of safe inhibition in coastal areas, the scheme has been integrated in the most relevant way in response to the environment.
Calexico West Land Port of Entry is a boarder station, approximately 120 miles east of San Diego, connecting Mexicali, Mexico with Calexico, California, which has been designed to provide orientation to different modes of traffic like cars, trucks, pedestrians.
It has been designed with expansive canopies on the pavilions, which provides needed cooling in the desert climate. Achieving necessary privacy and security, the complex organizes heavy volumes of traffic without creating an unsightly parking-lot effect.
Progressive Architecture Awards recognizes projects that display a pragmatism that improves lives in some way. The winners of the 60th Annual Progressive Architecture Awards were announced on 21 February 2013 during a ceremony at The Modern in New York City.
