Irregular Polygon rug by Michelle Weinberg

Published: 04-Jan-2013

New York-based designer Michelle Weinberg has presented an Irregular Polygon rug which appears to shift shape when viewed from varied vantage points.

Manufactured by American rug manufacturer Odabashian, the new Irregular Polygon is inspired by Weinberg's painting PreFab2. The rug is hand-tufted of wool and silk, and measures roughly 7' x 7'.

Irregular Polygon is one of several limited edition rugs which have been designed by Weinberg as part of her geometric exploration of colour, depth and form.

The rug has also inspired an installation at Dorsch Gallery in Miami in May 2012, which was titled Splinters and Polygon Projections, which subsequently inspired collaboration with dance/theatre artist Octavio Campos.
