Holder Mathias secures planning for mixed-use scheme in Swansea

Published: 08-Mar-2013

Holder Mathias has secured planning consent for Castle Quarter, an £8 million ($12 million) mixed-use scheme in Swansea, UK.

Castle Quarter is a mixed-use development which will overlook Swansea Castle. The scheme will be designed to introduce vitality into this area of the city, while also recognizing its historical importance. It will offer 8,000 square feet of restaurants and cafes, 26 affordable apartments and four duplex private apartments.

Swansea Castle is considered as an important historical point for Swansea. This site is expected to create a striking new quarter for the city.

Coastal Housing Group is developing the project. Demolition is complete at the site with the developers looking for a contractor. The project is expected to start onsite in spring 2013 and be complete by summer 2014.

Castle Quarter follows the £30 million ($45 million) Urban Village development on High Street and the Strand, also led by Coastal Housing Group and designed by Holder Mathias.
