The new Green Karma sleep set is the newest addition to the healthy and earth-friendly Green Line from Body Rest Mattress, a division of Commercial Bedding Company.
The foamless Green Karma mattress is filled with elastomeric fibres created from recycled plastic water bottles. The mattress is designed to exceed the requirements of Federal Standard 1633. When exposed to flame, the dense, flexible plastic fibres simply melt, without producing toxic fumes or chemical gases. The Green Karma mattress is claimed by the company to be a 100% natural, biodegradable, non-flammable, non-allergenic mattress.
According to Commercial Bedding, they are the first bedding manufacturer in America to produce a flame resistant mattress and a pillow top mattress. At the end of the mattress’ usable life, both ticking and filling can be recycled for reuse.
Body Rest’s Green Line was launched in 2009 with the Green Earth mattress. A third Green Line product is in the development stages and will be ready for production in 2012.
