Clark Construction to build $108 million student residential scheme

Published: 08-Mar-2013

The University of California, Riverside has awarded a contract to Clark Construction to build a $108 million student housing project, which is named as Glen Mor 2.

Spread over 334,000 square feet, the student residential complex will connect to the school's existing Glen Mor 1 building on the east side of the campus.

Designed to provide a comfortable as well as contemporary housing complex to UC students, the Glen Mor 2 project will include five, five-storied apartment-style residence halls that will accommodate approximately 800 students.

The project will also include the construction of a three-level, 600-space low-profile parking structure and two pedestrian bridges, which will connect the two Glen Mor housing complexes.

Additionally, the Glen Mor 2 housing facility will feature dedicated space for meeting rooms, a computer lab, and a fitness centre. A resident services office building, a food emporium, and a swimming pool will also be constructed in the complex.

Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the project team will also perform associated landscaping and utility extensions. Construction work on the project has started in February 2013 and completion is scheduled for fall 2014.
